Abstract

This paper describes a teaching and training tool designed to improve the use of PowerPoint presentations in higher education. Developed by the Lab- SET (Université de Liège) for a major agency of the European Commission, an evaluation of 10 slideshows (346 slides) was conducted. As a framework for the assessment tool used in this study, the authors referred to Villeneuve’s article (2004), in which 37 recommendations for effective use of presentation software are described. The teaching and training tool developed as well as the assessment methodology used in this study, can serve to improve the quality of slideshow presentations created by faculty who are just beginning to integrate technology in their teaching practice.
