Impact des TIC sur la motivation et la réussite des étudiants Enquête à l’Université d’Abomey-Calavi au Bénin
Impacts of ICT on student motivation and success: A survey at the Université d’Abomey-Calavi in Benin
Abstract
This research attempts to explore, in the students’ high failure rate context in the classic faculties at the University of Abomey-Calavi, what the students’ and the teachers’ perceptions are, as far as the impact of the ICT is concerned, on learners’ motivation and success alike. The study is particularly important in our context where in university pedagogy, the ICT are increasingly being used and the students have recourse to them in their activities more than the teachers do. In all, 171 questionnaires have been filled in by the students and teachers; 11 students and 6 teachers have taken semi-guided interviews. Statistical and qualitative analysis of these data reveal that the students and the teachers, in their majority, show the motivational potential of the ICT, notably the computer and the Internet, in the learning process. However, the analysis had shown a more mitigated position between students and teachers with regard to the positive impact of the ICT for the success of the studies.
