Quand la délocalisation numérique d’une partie d’un dispositif d’apprentissage permet de recentrer le temps présentiel sur un obstacle : exemple de l’appropriation de la courbe de Gauss par la manipulation d’objets concrets
When the digital relocation of part of a learning system enables refocusing face-to-face time on an obstacle: An example of using the Gauss curve to manipulate concrete objects
Abstract
Biostatistics is the processing of computer-based observations of living organisms. For our target audience, the reference to a model such as the Gaussian model, which is the focus of this article, constitutes an epistemological obstacle due to their inability to perform mathematical modelling. The interactive graphical representations on which our web-based teaching tool is based still remain largely inaccessible to them. Conceptual appropriation is made possible through the measurement of objects and the transfer of real data from a spread sheet into an actual histogram. This practical approach was made possible by the release of instructional time thanks to the transfer of part of the learning process to a computer-based system.
